I haven't posted anything from the disused, almost secret, American base at Gournes (Γούρνες, Κρήτη) Crete in quite a while. The main problem has been, although still structurally in tact the buildings have been gutted. The task on this last trip was to find areas of the base that had something worth taking photos of. To my surprise I was successful. I have no idea what this place was, but, it had a lot of wires that looked like communication type wires rather than electrical. You have to watch your step as pretty much every building has been used as a toilet at some stage as well as for numerous other activities which I will leave to your fertile imaginations. Anyway here is an aerial view. You can clearly see the masts in the centre of the photo and the remainder of the base surrounding it.
The picture is far too big to look at kid.
Your eyes won't open wide enough and you are constantly
surrounded by that swirling stream of what is and what was.
Well, we've all made our predictions but the truth still isn't out.
So if you want to see the future, go stare into a cloud.
