Ah the start of another week. The weekend seemed to breeze by I have to say. Not that I did very much. A lot of buggering around with updating the website, hoping to get that live soon. Sunday we took a drive the the seaside as it was sunny...with the promise of showers. Well it seemed like a great idea until we ran into the back of a traffic jam that sort of indicated that most of the south west of England had a similar idea! So an hour to get to Weston Super Mare and then an hour from the motorway to the sea! Still it was fun...hardly warm at 12 degrees but of course it didn't stop people behaving like it 30 degrees. Lots of flesh that really needed to be wrapped up and kept out of sight!
We also stumbled across a Volkswagen rally of types. Lots of beautifully renovated cars and camper vans. I took a couple of shots and then realised it wasn't really my bag. Of course if the few I took come back nice then I'll be gutted that I didn't take more. I have to say a filmwaster I ain't.... very rarely throwing caution to the wind with my photography, always trying to make every frame count.
And so the photo. Aghios Ioannis (Άγιος Ιωάννης) is the village. I contemplated posting a pretty landscape with fluffy made to order clouds but then realised I was a tad short on them! So I decided to carry on with me interior landscapes and the deserted homes that I love. Having said that I did take this one in colour not much colour it has to be said....a beautiful coating of dust a red cap and a bottle of urine...perhaps not! I think that the funnel may have been used for decanting it. Anyway this village was just wonderful for empty homes, as far as I could tell part of the problem with them sitting empty was an access problem, they needed major work and there was no vehicular access always going to put off prospective renovators. Half of the village that has access seems in very good shape. Perhaps these will be left to slip peacefully away. I need reasons to return!
I guess I could be shooting myself in the foot revealing where these gems are but as long as you promise to not tell anyone I will show you where Aghios Ioannis (Άγιος Ιωάννης) is. Here's an aerial view. Remember mum is the word!
When the room is quiet
The daylight almost gone
It seems there's something I should know
Well, I ought to leave
But the rain it never stops
And I've no particular place to go
Just when I think I'm winning
When I've broken every door
The ghosts of my life
Blow wilder than before
Just when I thought I could not be stopped
When my chance came to be king
The ghosts of my life
Blew wilder than the wind
Well, I'm feeling nervous
Now I find myself alone
The simple life's no longer there
Once I was so sure
Now the doubt inside my mind
Comes and goes, but leads nowhere
