I have been looking at this empty shell of a hotel for years, for the 12 years I have been going to Crete. I had no idea why it was built as it is in the middle of nowhere. The place is a shell, a shell that was never inhabited, anyway, this trip I made a few enquiries and it seems that many years ago there was talk of a new airport being built in the area and obviously this place was started in anticipation. Now it just sits, a huge lump of concrete used by the locals as storage space. There were a number of these barrels littered around the place. I have no idea what they used to contain, it looked toxic whatever it was!
